The Internet is buzzing about Oprah after she revealed what she called “a bombshell family secret”: Winfrey has a half-sister she never knew existed. An emotional Winfrey broke the news on her own talk show, saying she met her half-sister, Patricia, for the first time in November of 2010. Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, put Patricia up for adoption shortly after her birth in 1963. At the time, Oprah was 9 and living with her father in Tennessee. Winfrey and Patricia paid a visit in mid-January to their mother in Milwaukee. Oprah says the reunion with her half-sister “literally shook me to my core.”
