An on-and-off-the-screen couple since they met on the set of High School Musical in 2005, the pair’s real-life union was pure magic for teenage girls everywhere. But apparently Zac and Vanessa couldn’t navigate adversity as skillfully as their on-screen characters, Troy and Gabriella, whose fights always culminated in the obligatory “all is forgiven” kiss-and a seemingly endless string of sequels. A friend of the couple tells E! Online that the breakup was mutual, explaining that they were together for so long, “It just ran its course.”
