Until Sunday, Sal Alosi was an obscure assistant coach in the NFL. Now, he’s this week’s poster child for poor sportsmanship. Alosi, the New York Jets strength-and-conditioning coach, was caught on camera sticking out his knee to trip Nolan Carroll of the Miami Dolphins as Carroll streaked down the sideline on punt coverage during Sunday’s Jets-Dolphins game. Afterward, Sal Alosi apologized and called his unsportsmanlike actions a “total lapse in judgment.” The Jets have suspended Alosi for the rest of the season, and he’s been fined $25,000.
