In the video above, a short story about a group of prehistoric people, with apparent access to an arsenal of Looney Tunes-inspired weaponry, makes a point about the international response to Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons.
The video is reportedly the work of activists from the northern Syrian city of Kafranbel. The director, Raed Fares, told The Telegraph that he used cavemen because “there was no humanity in those ages” and to send the message that killing “only requires simple tools”.
You can agree or disagree with the video’s point of view, and it certainly doesn’t cover all the nuances of the conflict, but in a news cycle that also brought us such cynical exercises as the Alyssa Milano sex tape that explains Syria and “Obama asks the hill to bomb Syria, as explained by The Hills,” I appreciate its sincerity.
