The Beautiful Game, Slowed Down

When Brazil and Croatia square off 13 days from now, the painfully long four-year waiting period since a World Cup match last graced our TV screens will finally be over. We’ve come so far. Now, all we have to do is endure another 300-plus hours of down time before our month of soccer nirvana.

In honor of that slow drip of hours, minutes, and seconds leading up to June 12, here’s an old classic from Slate V befitting what’s sure to be an excruciatingly long wait. Set to Eddy Howard’s “To Each His Own,” it’s the greatest hits from the 2010 World Cup—in super slow motion. The grunts, the war cries, Landon Donovan (whoops!), and oh yes, the dives. They’re all there, and they’re all very, very slow.
