Las Vegas Shooter Reportedly Also Tried to Shoot Nearby Jet Fuel Tanks From Second Hotel Window

It’s remains unclear why Stephen Paddock accumulated an arsenal in his Mandalay Bay hotel room, but what is becoming increasingly plain is that he intended on inflicting far worse damage than the already horrific toll of 58 people and hundreds of injured. The Las Vegas Review-Journal gives us a chilling glimpse into what could have been, reporting Wednesday that Paddock was also aiming to hit two jet fuel tanks beyond the country music concert with bullets.

The two tanks, which sit just over 1,000 feet from where the concert was being held, were sprayed with bullets. “The bullets left holes, but did not penetrate the two circular white tanks, sparing the nearby Route 91 Harvest country music festival from a potentially massive explosion,” the Review-Journal reported Wednesday. “[Paddock] had broken two windows in his 32nd-floor suite—one in line with the concert site and the other with a direct view of the fuel tanks…”
