Today’s Impeach-O-Meter: What Is Donald Trump Even Talking About?

The Impeach-O-Meter is a wildly subjective and speculative daily estimate of the likelihood that Donald Trump leaves office before his term ends, whether by being impeached (and convicted) or by resigning under threat of same.

Las Vegas. Nuclear North Korea. A slow-moving disaster in Puerto Rico. Leading our national response to these things is the guy who just “dedicated” a golf trophy to hurricane victims, as you can see above. Note that he was unable to make it through even one sentence of his explanation of this weird but at least ostensibly thoughtful gesture without implicitly whining about media coverage of the chaos in Puerto Rico:

On behalf of all of the people of Texas, and, if you look today and you see what’s happening, how horrible it is but we have it under really great control, Puerto Rico. And the people of Florida who have really suffered over this last period of time with the hurricanes. I want to just remember them, and we’re going to dedicate this trophy to all those people who went through so much, that we love, that are part of our great state, really a part of our great nation.

His response to Las Vegas, as I mentioned earlier, was perhaps even more bizarre:

“Warmest”?

It’s been said by others before, but Donald Trump’s near-total inability to effectively simulate normal human-like behavior often gets lost among his more consequential flaws.
