A daily roundup of the biggest stories in right-wing media.

On Friday, news broke that Anthony Weiner, the bane of Hillary Clinton’s existence, would submit a guilty plea for having transferred obscene material to a minor. After a difficult week for the Trump administration, conservative media eagerly leapt on the story.

Anthony Weiner to Plead Guilty to Being a Big Ol’ Perv,” read the headline to a Daily Caller post by Jim Treacher. “It’s a sign of the times that I’m actually relieved to see Anthony Weiner back in the headlines. Finally, a story I understand. Something I can wrap my head around. Maybe I should rephrase that,” Treacher joked. The Caller also published a Weiner post that was largely sober, except for the gleeful mention that he had “broke[n] down and cried in court.”

Many other sites also got into the goofy (and frequently cruel) spirit. LifeZette, for example, riffed on Weiner’s famously ludicrous pseudonym with the headline “Carlos in Danger: Weiner Will Plead Guilty.” Sean Hannity’s site went for a more tabloid-style headline pun: “Weiner Cooked.”

Breitbart offered up a little history lesson, reminding readers that Weiner’s first texting scandal had been “exposed in 2011 by the late Andrew Breitbart.” It also gossiped about Weiner’s marriage to former Clinton aide Huma Abedin: “According to sources close to the New York Post, Abedin remains ‘in love’ with Weiner, blaming the ‘pressures of the campaign and presidential race and him drifting off into obscurity’ for his latest relapse.”

Heat Street may have offered the most extreme take here, arguing, “While this sad husk of a man is pathetic and reprehensible on all counts, it can be argued, and fuck it I’m doing it right now, that his pathological addiction to sexting saved America.” The supporting evidence: Then-FBI Director James Comey’s late October announcement about emails found on Weiner’s laptop may have swung the election for Trump. The piece went on to hypothesize—in jest?—that if Hillary Clinton had been elected, Weiner would have “expand[ed] the subterranean child trafficking tunnels from Comet Ping Pong all the way to the White House, providing unfettered access to pizza sauce-covered children!”

Meanwhile on Facebook, Sean Hannity continued to revisit the many scandals of the Obama era:
