A daily roundup of the biggest stories in right-wing media.

On Monday, publications across the political spectrum wrote about the New York Times report that the Obama administration had cautioned Donald Trump about Mike Flynn. Meanwhile, many conservative outlets found reasons to caution their readers about Barack Obama himself.

Repeatedly claiming that Obama had “broke[n] his silence” by speaking at a ceremony in Boston over the weekend, Breitbart wrote, “Despite his voiced desire to stay out of the political theater, former president Barack Obama returned again to defend his presidency and speak out against his successor Donald Trump.” A stack of links on the Drudge Report summed up some of the key issues:

Rush Limbaugh, who’d previously chastised Obama for his attempted “last-minute intervention in the French election,” argued on Monday that much of what was happening on the left is motivated by a “panicked, hysterical need … to protect the legacy of Barack Hussein Obama.Heat Street took a similar line in its coverage of the former president’s John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award acceptance speech, writing that he had proposed “[t]he real profile in courage was the group of Democrats who voted for Obamacare, even though they knew they might loose [sic] their jobs or never get elected again.”

The Daily Caller suggested that there was something pathetic about the president’s comportment, linking to an article from its home page with the headline, “Obama Begs Members of Congress to Have the ‘Courage’ Not to Repeal Obamacare.” It promoted another article with the homepage headline, “Carter Page Gets in Big Dig at Obama in Letter to Senate Intel Committee.” The “dig” in question was Page’s claim that he had avoided some financial connections to Russia because of, as he put it, “the complete disaster that the Clinton/Obama regime made of U.S.-Russia relations and the related problems they inflicted on private industry across the Russian economy.”

Some suggested that Obama might have done far worse than interfere with the French election or mess with the Russian economy. A headline on Gateway Pundit, for example, read, “Republicans Launch Sweeping Investigation Into Whether Obama Undermined US National Security to Finalize Iran Deal.” In the process of aggregating Breitbart’s aggregation of reporting from Politico, the blog took the opportunity to get in a dig of its own, writing, “In other news, Republicans are also going to probe whether water is wet.
