John Kasich Votes for It to Be 2008 Again, Writes-In John McCain for President

Ahh, 2008, good times.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the one-time, more-or-less contender for the Republican nomination, voted for president Monday via absentee ballot. As promised, he did not vote for Donald Trump. Instead, he voted for a write-in candidate at the top of the ticket, golden oldie, Arizona Sen. John McCain. McCain 2016! This, of course, is a symbolic gesture and an empty one at that, as Cleveland.com notes, “[b]ecause McCain is not among the 18 certified write-in candidates in Ohio, Kasich’s vote for president will not count.”

Kasich’s antipathy for Donald Trump lead him to skip the RNC Convention this summer, even though it was hosted in his home state. The final straw for Kasich was the lewd Access Hollywood tapes. “Donald Trump is a man I cannot and should not support,” Kasich said in an Oct. 8 statement. “The actions of the last day are disgusting, but that’s not why I reached this decision, it has been an accumulation of his words and actions that many have been warning about. I will not vote for a nominee who has behaved in a manner that reflects so poorly on our country. Our country deserves better.”

There is no word on whether Kasich wrote-in Sarah Palin too.
