Republican Congressman Complains That Germany Isn’t Ethnically Pure Enough Anymore

Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King tweeted something dumb this morning about Hillary Clinton being “off her meds,” which is a reference to some or other dumpster-web sewer theory that I don’t even want to bother learning about. A tweet he sent on Sept. 18 has subsequently begun recirculating:

Frauke Petry is the leader of Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany party, whose members do stuff like complain about the rates at which “Africans” reproduce; Petry herself is best-known for suggesting that German authorities could consider shooting down unarmed undocumented immigrants to prevent them from crossing the border. So an American congressman—one who has complained that other racial “subgroups” haven’t contributed as much to civilization as Europeans have—is endorsing a German leader’s concerns about German purity while using a word that ends in -ide. Great.
