Former Secretary of State Colin Powell doesn’t think much of “national disgrace” Donald Trump, and he considers the Benghazi scandal largely to be a “witch hunt.” This does not necessarily mean that he’s enthused about the prospect of Hillary Clinton being president—and that was before she started roping him into her email server scandal against his wishes. He’s still a Republican, after all. And there’s one email in the newly leaked batch from DCLeaks.com that demonstrates that clearly, even if he does consider Clinton a “friend.”

“I would rather not vote for her, although she is a friend I respect,” Powell wrote in a July 26, 2014, email to investor and Democratic donor Jeffrey Leeds. “A 70-year-old person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still dicking bimbos at home (according to the NYP).” The email was flagged first by CBS News’ Will Rahn and confirmed to be in the archive by Slate.

If you ever doubted Powell was still a Republican, now you know: He passes along theories about the Clintons that he reads in the New York Post.
