While the Rio Olympics are now in full swing, two disturbing alleged sexual assaults by athletes have cast concern over the Olympic Village. On Monday, Brazilian authorities confirmed that Namibian boxer Jonas Junius had been arrested Sunday on charges of sexual assault and had been transferred to a maximum-security prison. The arrest of the 22-year-old light-welterweight boxer came days after another boxer, Moroccan Hassan Saada, was detained on charges of sexually assaulting two workers in the Olympic Village.

Jonas Junius, his country’s flag-bearer, was arrested after he allegedly “attempted to grab and kiss the cleaning lady” in the hallway of the Olympic Village. Brazilian police say the employee immediately contacted police after the alleged assault. She also accused Junius of offering to pay her for sex. Junius’ first bout is scheduled for Thursday.

Hassan Saada was arrested on Friday before the games officially opened for allegedly sexually assaulting two Olympic Village workers after initially asking to take a photo with the women. The women told police Saada then forcibly tried to kiss them. Saada missed his bout over the weekend.
