Today’s biggest stories:
- Hillary Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention might not have been an all-timer, but it capped a convention that nearly everyone agrees was more of a success than the RNC. (At the least, the DNC definitely got Donald Trump’s goat.)
- The father of a Muslim soldier who died in Iraq gave perhaps the most compelling speech of either convention. (Fox News didn’t air it.)
- This Biff Tannen/Trump video was pretty good too.
- Meanwhile, a number of Sanders delegates highlighted the DNC’s unusually and perhaps unsettlingly militaristic tone with “No More War” chants.
- The CDC says four cases of Zika have been transmitted via mosquitoes in Florida.
- Michigan’s attorney general charged six state employees with felonies for trying to cover up Flint’s lead crisis.
- And, finally: Balloon party!
Have a good weekend out there, folks!
