More of the same in the United States, as at least two people were killed and 16 injured in an early Monday shooting attack on a crowd outside a Fort Myers, Florida, nightclub that had been holding an event for teenagers. From USA Today:

Parents were picking up their kids from a teen “Swimsuit and Glow Party” when gunshots rang out just after midnight Monday at Club Blu in Fort Myers. … The Fort Myers Police Department responded around 12:30 a.m. Monday to the club, situated south of downtown, after gunshots were heard in the parking lot.

A 14-year-old and an 18-year-old were killed; one of the individuals who was injured is 12. Police say they have detained three people in connection with the shooting, which is not believed to have been politically motivated.

More of the same in Germany, as 15 people were injured Sunday when a Syrian refugee whose political asylum application had been rejected blew himself up outside a music festival in the city of Ansbach. From the Guardian:

Authorities said the 27-year-old had been denied asylum a year ago and had a history of making attempts on his own life. Three of those injured are in a serious condition. It is believed a device he was carrying exploded although it is not clear whether it was a suicide bombing or whether the man intended to plant it and harm others.

A video has reportedly been found on the bomber’s phone pledging allegiance to ISIS, whose Amaq “news agency” has also claimed responsibility for the attack. The beat goes on.
