Watch a Forlorn Chris Christie Give a Highly Piteous Interview to Dana Bash

Chris Christie really, really, really does not enjoy being here right now.

CNN

On Monday at the Republican National Convention, CNN aired one of the most piteous interviews that is likely to take place during the four days in Cleveland. On the convention floor, reporter Dana Bash lobbed at Chris Christie a brutal series of questions about how it felt to be a bridesmaid twice over at this convention, first failing to win the presidential nomination and then being passed over for the No. 2 spot in favor of Mike Pence.

“How does it feel to be here, is it bittersweet?” Bash asked.

“God, no,” Christie lied. “I’m a kid from New Jersey who’s in the front row at the Republican National Convention. I think I’m doing just fine, Dana, you’re from Jersey, you know what that’s like.”

Christie then looked off in the distance forlornly, perhaps imagining what his life might have been like had he run in 2012. No Bridgegate. No tanking in the GOP primary. No having to prostrate himself before Donald Trump after losing. No hostage situation. And no being rejected for VEEP.

Bash then went in for the kill asking him “describe what it’s like to be here” and saying “it’s kind of different from being on the ticket.”

“I feel really comfortable and confident with my role,” Christie again fudged the truth.

The awkwardness continued as Bash asked him about his nonacceptance speech Tuesday, and Christie responded, “I hope to be charming tomorrow night, Dana. Charming and absolutely disarming. Intelligent and witty. I hope to be all those things. You can tell me tomorrow night if I achieved it or not.”

Translation: I wish you would spontaneously disappear from my sight forever at this moment, Dana, and that I may never have to see you again.
