Here are some facts that don’t necessarily add up to anything concrete but do provide us with an excuse to do a post about Newt “The Newt Man” Gingrich.
1. Newt is being temporarily suspended from his role as a Fox News commentator, the network says, to avoid the conflict of interest created by the speculation that he could become Donald Trump’s running mate. (Newt is reportedly under serious consideration for the role and the Republican convention is next week.)
2. Newt nonetheless appeared on Fox News this afternoon to talk about Donald Trump’s potential choice of running mate.
3. But he’s being coy about whether he will be that running mate.
4. An NBC reporter, meanwhile, says the VP announcement is scheduled for Friday.
So there you have it! Newt “Big Newt” Gingrich may or may not be announced as Donald Trump’s running mate on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
