Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade agreed Wednesday to what is reported to be a two-year $47 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. The three-time NBA champion seemed destined to end his career in Miami, although rumors ricocheted around the league this week that he could pull a basketball inversion of sorts, and reunite with LeBron James in Cleveland. Despite stating his desire to stay in South Beach, the Heat never increased its offer to match competing salaries from the Bulls and reportedly the Denver Nuggets.

Dwyane Wade, who is from Chicago, will likely finish his career on a Bulls team that’s amidst a retool, although not necessarily a rebuild, after trading former-MVP point guard Derrick Rose to the Knicks and having Joakim Noah follow him to New York. As for the Heat, the team went from trying to compete for Kevin Durant to losing the face of the franchise for the past decade to this feeling expressed by newly re-signed center Hassan Whiteside.
