Today’s biggest stories:
- FBI director James Comey announced that he will not recommend that Hillary Clinton be charged criminally for mishandling classified information. He did, however, call Clinton’s conduct “extremely careless.”
- Republican leaders condemned the decision but appear to be accepting its legitimacy.
- Suicide bombings presumed to have been orchestrated by ISIS killed hundreds in Baghdad and several more in Saudi Arabia.
- Donald Trump tweeted an anti-Semitic image that appears to have been created by a Twitter user who frequently distributes racist and/or neo-Nazi material. A writer for the New York Observer, which is owned by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, then wrote an open letter to Kushner in the Observer asking why he is abetting anti-Semitism.
- And Ronald Reagan’s solicitor general said in a statement to Slate that Trump is a disgrace. (Here’s today’s Trump Apocalypse Watch.)
