A French police officer was killed in a knife attack in the suburbs of Paris late Monday night in what appears to be an ISIS–related attack one day after a deadly attack in Orlando, Florida. An ISIS–affiliated news organization is reporting the Paris attacker is connected to the group, but ISIS has not yet officially claimed responsibility. The attack occurred 35 miles west of Paris outside the home of the slain officer, who was reportedly not in a police uniform at the time. The attacker then retreated into what appears to be the officer’s residence where he was pursued by French commandos.

The police officer’s wife was later found dead in the house, the attacker himself was killed during the police assault on the residence. A 3-year-old boy, apparently the couple’s son, was found unharmed at the residence. Agence France-Presse reports the attacker claimed allegiance to ISIS while negotiating with police.
