Update, 6:59 p.m.: The woman who claimed to have a bomb strapped to her chest was taken into custody. The Air Force determined she was not in possession of an explosive device. The woman had informed a guard at the base’s main gate that she had a bomb, which prompted a portion of the base to be shut down.

Original Post: Joint Base Andrews, located 10 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., locked down its main gate Thursday afternoon after a woman claiming to have a bomb showed up at the base’s visitor center.
