A new Donald Trump aide told some Republican bigwigs that Trump’s whole raving racist maniac thing is just schtick and that he’s actually quite reasonable. (The Trump Apocalypse Watch was skeptical and held steady at a rating of two horsemen.) In other news:
- At least six children under the age of six were killed this week in the United States by guns.
- The NIH is having trouble following through on its promise to retire hundreds of chimpanzees that were used for medical research.
- Merrick Garland is still a Supreme Court nominee. The Senate Judiciary Committee did nothing about it this week. Nothing at all. Nothing!
- And a Supreme Court sketch artist drew Clarence Thomas in what appears to be a state of deep hibernation.
