Wednesday’s top breaking story comes to us from the burg of Florence, Alabama, pop. 39,319, where NBC affiliate WAFF reports that suspicious items were found outside a post office in the early morning hours:

Police said around 7 a.m. a post office employee noticed a suspicious package behind one of the columns on the entryway to the building.

Police were called in and blocked off the area.

There turned out to be two suspicious bags near the post office building, and bomb techs were called in. The result:

Police confirmed they found hot dogs wrapped in aluminum foil inside the suspicious bags.

That’s a relief, but it’s also sad, because it means someone in Alabama apparently misplaced his or her hot-dog bags. :(
