New Poll Shows Trump 27 Points Ahead of Rest of Republican Field

A Monmouth University poll last week found that 24 percent of likely Iowa caucusgoers back Ted Cruz, making him the leading 2016 Republican presidential contender in the state. Donald Trump reacted to this like so:

It looks like the erstwhile reality television performer may suddenly find himself endorsing the university’s research, though: A Monmouth poll out Monday shows Trump with more support nationally than the next five GOP candidates combined.

Trump’s lead in RealClearPolitics’ running average of recent national polls is a more modest 15 percent.
