A Monmouth University poll last week found that 24 percent of likely Iowa caucusgoers back Ted Cruz, making him the leading 2016 Republican presidential contender in the state. Donald Trump reacted to this like so:
"What the hell is Monmouth? ... I don't like Monmouth. ... I only like polls that treat me well," — Donald J. Trump, just now.— Colin Campbell (@BKcolin) December 12, 2015
It looks like the erstwhile reality television performer may suddenly find himself endorsing the university's research, though: A Monmouth poll out Monday shows Trump with more support nationally than the next five GOP candidates combined.
Trump's lead in RealClearPolitics' running average of recent national polls is a more modest 15 percent.
Monmouth University is in New Jersey, by the way, on the shore. Gym, tan, laundry, public opinion polling.
