Former President Jimmy Carter said on Sunday that his cancer is gone. The 91-year-old told a Sunday School class he regularly teachers that his most recent MRI scan showed he no longer had cancer. “He said he got a scan this week and the cancer was gone,” Jill Stuckey told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “The church, everybody here, just erupted in applause.”
The Associated Press talked to Carter’s grandson, who confirmed the news, writing in a text message that his grandfather “told me that the doctors couldn’t find any cancer in his most recent scan.”
In August, Carter said he would begin radiation treatment after doctors found melanoma in his liver and brain.
