Rand Paul’s national political director, a Michigan resident named John Yob, alleged in an early-morning Facebook post Friday that he was punched in the face by Marco Rubio’s deputy campaign manager at a bar in the area of a conference that’s hosting a number of Republican presidential candidates.

Rich Beeson has worked previously for Mitt Romney and the Republican National Committee.

Mackinac Island is an old-timey Michigan vacation destination which will be the setting for this weekend’s Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference; six GOP candidates, including Paul but not Rubio, will be attending.

Yob was in the news earlier this year when his wife was arrested twice for allegedly assaulting him. She pleaded no contest in one of the cases and entered a diversionary program.
