Ted Cruz apologized Wednesday night for making mocking remarks about Vice President Joe Biden, whose son Beau died Saturday of brain cancer, at an event in Michigan. The pro-Democratic Party American Bridge 21st Century PAC has since posted video of Cruz’s comments:

The transcript:

You know—Vice President Joe Biden.

You know the nice thing? You don’t need a punchline!

I promise you it works—the next party you’re at, just walk up to someone, say “Vice President Joe Biden,” and just close your mouth. They will crack up laughing!

Biden says, “If anyone attacks your house, just go outside with a double-barreled shotgun and fire both barrels in the air.” Now, that is very, very good advice—if it so happens you’re being attacked by a flock of geese.

Cruz has used the same lines in past appearances, and in his apology said he had made a mistake in telling “an old joke about Joe Biden during his time of grief.”
