Former Heisman Trophy winner and future United States President Tim Tebow will sign a one-year contract with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, Fox Sports reported Sunday.
The Philadelphia Eagles plan to bring in quarterback Tim Tebow and sign him Monday as they begin their offseason program, FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reports. Multiple outlets later confirmed the report.
The Eagles are looking for a fourth quarterback for their offseason program. After spending time with Tebow’s quarterbacks coach Tom House, the Eagles are convinced he’s improved a lot, Glazer reports.
Tebow hasn’t played in a regular-season game since 2012, and while he’s always been a talented runner, he’s struggled passing the ball since turning pro. He’ll also start out at fourth on the Eagles’ depth chart—the players ahead of him include two quarterbacks (Mark Sanchez and Sam Bradford) who between them have started 119 NFL games—so it’s still far from certain we’ll be seeing the return of Tebowmania on Sundays. On the other hand, Eagles coach Chip Kelly is a famed nonconformist who’s known for making stars out of running quarterbacks, and Tebow has been working extensively on his throwing skills of late with a respected throwing coach.
