The Newtown, Connecticut, home where mass shooter Adam Lanza lived with his mother, Nancy, was demolished Monday. Lanza killed his mother before shooting 20 students and six staff members to death at Sandy Hook Elementary in December 2012. From NBC:

Several neighbors said the 3,100-square-foot house was a constant reminder of the tragdey and asked that it be taken down.

In December, the town acquired the property. A month later, the Newtown Legislative Council voted to tear it down.

Last month, First Selectwoman Pat Llodra said Manafort Brothers, a construction company with ties to the town, agreed to demolish the house for free as a way to honor the victims of the shooting.

Sandy Hook Elementary itself was demolished in 2013. Lanza shot and killed himself before he could be apprehended. He carried out the killings with firearms that his mother had purchased legally.
