Rand Paul is not running for president. At least, he’s not running for president right this second. The Washington Examiner reported earlier Thursday afternoon that the Kentucky senator and likely 2016 Republican presidential contender had filed with the Federal Election Commission to launch a presidential campaign.
The news was BIG BIG BIG but also false. Paul’s Senate office told the Examiner reporter who originally reported the FEC filing that he had not, in fact, filed with the FEC, and that the whole thing was a hoax. The FEC confirmed this to CNBC. LOL whoops!
