A dramatic scene played out in a Florida mall food court Saturday morning, where a man with “several pockets full of ammunition,” was apparently determined to kill his wife. Jose Garcia Rodriguez went to the Melbourne Square mall where his wife works and opened fire. He ended up injuring his wife and killing another man before turning the gun on himself. His wife, Ida Garcia, is in good condition at the hospital. The name of the second victim has not been released and it is unclear if he had any connection with the shooter or his wife. There are reports that the man tried to wrestle the gun away from the shooter but they have yet to be confirmed, notes Reuters.

“It was a frightening experience, something that you don’t ever want anybody to experience. It was crazy. We had just gotten our food to sit down by Starbucks and Chik-fil-A, and you just hear the ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,’ and you just drop everything and your body just makes you run,” a witness told Florida Today. Police found three handguns at the mall, reports local station WESH.
