Reports on Tuesday said that Lebanon had arrested a woman named Saja al-Dulaimi who is married to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Today, a representative for Iraq’s Interior Ministry told Reuters that the woman arrested is not al-Baghdadi’s wife—but Lebanon is sticking to its story.
Al-Baghdadi, Iraq claims, does have a wife named al-Dulaimi—but says that woman’s name is Asmaa Fawzi Mohammed al-Dulaimi. Not so, Lebanon says:
Lebanese security officials said their investigations still indicated the detained woman was Baghdadi’s wife.
“We are surprised by the position of the Iraqi Interior Ministry in light of the fact (Dulaimi) said that she was married to Ibrahim al-Samarai, who is also known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi,” said a Lebanese security official.
Lebanese officials say they are testing the DNA of a girl who was traveling with al-Dulaimi to determine whether she is al-Baghdadi’s daughter. Developing!
