Update 4:30 p.m.: Shooter and one other reported dead

Police in Washington state say one person was killed in a high school shooting in addition to the lone student gunman. A hospital spokeswoman said earlier that three victims were in critical condition… It was not immediately clear if the person who died was one of those brought to Providence Everett medical center.

A student at Washington state's Marysville-Pilchuck High School walked into the school's cafeteria, went up to a table with students, "came up from behind ... and fired about six bullets into the backs of them," witness Jordan Luton told CNN. "They were his friends, so it wasn't just random," Luton said.

Original Post: A high school roughly 30 miles north of Seattle is being evacuated after reports of school shooting on Friday. Local police confirmed that the shooter was killed during the attack. Details are still emerging on the situation at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Washington. “The Marysville School District said in a statement that Marysville Pilchuck High School was in lock down due to an emergency situation, and police and emergency services had responded,” the Associated Press reports. “Ayn Dietrich, an FBI spokesperson in Seattle, said the agency had personnel on their way to the scene to help authorities with the investigation.”

A gunman believed to have opened fire at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Friday morning is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to two law-enforcement sources. Police have not released details, but there are reports of as many as seven other people shot about 10:45 a.m. Three of the injured were taken by ambulance to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, including one with a head wound. Police are searching room to room with guns drawn, leaving tape to mark the doors of the rooms that have been cleared. Officers are finding students and staff members hiding alone or in small groups.
