55-year-old French tourist Herve Gourdel, who was kidnapped this weekend by an Algerian terrorist group which says it is following ISIS's call to kill Westerners, has been executed by beheading. The group, Jund al-Khilafah, released a video of Gourdel's murder. From the New York Times:

The terrorist group issued a statement after his abduction, saying that it was following the guidance of the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, which has seized large parts of Syria and Iraq and has called on its sympathizers to strike Westerners — especially the French — wherever they can.
In the statement, the Algerian group had demanded that President François Hollande of France cease his country’s intervention in Syria within 24 hours or face seeing Mr. Gourdel killed.

According to Vice, Jund al-Khalifah declared its allegiance to ISIS's so-called Islamic State via a statement on September 14. The group's leader was formerly affiliated with al-Qaida.

The Filipino terror group Abu Sayyaf said this week it will kill two kidnapped German tourists it has apparently held since April if Germany does not abandon its support for military action against ISIS.
