Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda has decided to quit social media after receiving hurtful messages concerning her father’s suicide. The New York Daily News reports:
The actress apparently received criticism for not posting enough photos with her famous dad, who committed suicide Monday. Other anonymous users went as far as criticizing Robin Williams, and his career, by leaving messages on his daughter's page.
According to the BBC, at least two people also sent Zelda photoshopped images of her father’s body. The 25-year-old described the distressful messages as “cruel and unnecessary,” adding that she will be leaving her Twitter and Instagram pages for a while as she decides whether to permanently delete them.
I'm sorry. I should've risen above. Deleting this from my devices for a good long time, maybe forever. Time will tell. Goodbye.— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) August 13, 2014
On Tumblr, however, the actress responded to the trolls with a wistful humor. “As for those who are sending negativity,” she said. “Know that a small, giggling part of him is sending a flock of pigeons to your house to poop on your car. Right after you've had it washed.”
