Here is footage from Monday night, posted by reporter Ray Downs of the St. Louis publication Riverfront Times, of Ferguson, Missouri, police firing tear gas at angry residents despite the fact that they're standing behind a fence on private property and are apparently unarmed:

Downs reports that one of the men in the video is 24-year-old Rich West:

"It's pure ignorance," West responded after catching his breath. "I pay property taxes here. I should be able to be in my backyard any time."
He said that regular harassment by the Ferguson police department, often in the form of traffic stops, has been occurring ever since he was sixteen years old.
