One Israeli was killed today in Jerusalem by a Palestinian man who drove an excavator into a bus; hours later a gunman opened fire in public, seriously injuring at least one person. From Reuters:

Yossi Farienti, Jerusalem district police chief, said the excavator “hit a Jewish citizen at a construction site and then drove about 50 metres (yards) down the road, where it overturned the bus with its arm, slightly injuring three people”.

The driver of the excavator was shot and killed. Here’s Haaretz on what appears to have been a mass shooting hours later:

Several hours after a man driving a digger used his vehicle to flip over a bus, killing one, a gunman on a motorcycle opened fire Monday on a hitchhiking station near Jerusalem’s Hebrew University on Mt. Scopus. Several people were wounded in both attacks.

A 20-year-old soldier was seriously wounded in the Mt. Scopus attack. Security forces are now attempting to apprehend the attacker, who fled the scene.

Haaretz notes that several previous terror attacks in Israel have involved construction vehicles used as weapons.
