It’s a tribute to John Venn, the diagram’s creator, born today in 1834. (Incidentally, I disagree with the linked Guardian piece’s assertion that the doctor/prostitute/TSA diagram is problematic. You just have to read “doctors” and “prostitutes” to mean “qualities of doctors,” “qualities of prostitutes,” etc. It’s also been 15 years since I took a math class, so my opinion is worth what you paid for it.)
