After a week-and-a-half of violence in Gaza, both Israel and Hamas have agreed to a temporary ceasefire. The UN-requested 5-hour halt to fighting is designed to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza after days of being bombarded by the Israeli military. “[Hamas] agrees to a ceasefire for five hours,” starting from 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zukhri said in a statement.

“Should the humanitarian window be exploited by Hamas or other terror organizations for the purpose of launching attacks against Israeli civilian or military targets the IDF will respond firmly and decisively,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement of its own.
