A medical marijuana farmers market will open in Los Angeles from July 4-6, the Hollywood Reporter…reports. It’ll be held in East L.A. by a group called the California Heritage Market and, like other farmers markets, it will allow buyers to converse directly with growers. The Heritage Market’s executive administrator, Paizley Bradbury, says the event is “a new and affordable experience for those who need safe access they can trust.”

California was the first state in the U.S. to legalize medical marijuana under Proposition 215 in 1996.

Correction, June 27, 2014: This post originally stated in error that L.A.’s medical marijuana farmers market would be the world’s first. Such venues in fact already exist in Seattle, where the NW Cannabis Market operates two locations.
