Wimbledon 12-Seed Gives Thoughts on Vampires in Tennis, He Was Asked About Umpires

You have to give Latvian tennis player Ernests Gulbis credit for being a gamer when it comes to answering questions from the press. On Monday, the Wimbledon twelve seed sat down for the standard post-match press conference. At one point, the topic of conversation turns to John McEnroe’s latest idea that the sport should get rid of umpires and let the players make their own calls during matches. The questioner, essentially, asks Gulbis if he agrees with getting rid of umpires? “Get rid of vampires?” Gulbis asks, before answering the question metaphorically, but seriouslyabout vampires. After a solid soliloquy on the ill effects of vampires on pro players, he good-naturedly realizes the screw up. Could happen to anyone really.
