Peruvian Woman Not Happy Her Husband Got Drunk and Decided to Fight a Bull

The video above, which seems to have been first posted online by Reuters, captures last Sunday’s festivities at the Senor Espiritu Santo festival in Ayacucho, a city in Peru.

The annual festival—an ongoing event since the 17th century—culminates with an amateur bullfight. During the fights recorded in the video, many of the particpants needed to be pulled out of harm’s way by onlookers, often narrowly escaping being gored. The true descent into chaos, though, came when an ring assistant untied the rope preventing the bull from entering the crowd. At least 10 people were injured in total, and the ring assistant was given public lashings for letting the bull loose.

The highlight comes about 30 seconds in as a man, described by Reuters as “inebriated,” has a meaningful conversation with his wife about his decision to try to fight a bull (i.e. she pulls him away while smacking him in the head).

The lesson here, as always, is that when you mess with the bull, you get the horns. How many more times must it be said?
