Megyn Kelly may not be the subversive infiltrator into Fox News that some had hoped she’d be, but sometimes she does go off the script. It happened last night when former Vice President Dick Cheney appeared on her show with his daughter, onetime Senate hopeful Liz Cheney, to discuss a joint op-ed they wrote about Obama and Iraq. (Sample line: “Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many.”) Kelly lets Cheney go through his talking points, but then hits hard: “Now with almost a trillion dollars spent there, with 4,500 American lives lost there, what do you say to those who say you were wrong about so much at the expense of so many?” And: "Time and time again, history has proven that you got it wrong in Iraq as well, sir." Then she runs down some of Cheney's errant predictions, like the 2005 claim that the Iraq insurgency was on its last legs. Cheney responds in relatively subdued (if historically questionable) fashion, but he does spontaneously refer to Megyn as “Reagan.”
