Whether plastering your company name in front of a college bowl game is a sign of corporate legitimacy is an open question. The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl and the S.D. County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, after all, are hardly titans of American industry. But, for Internet wild child Bitcoin, the idea of being associated with football, rather than, say, the shadowy corners of the web is apparently a step in the right direction.

On Wednesday, Bitcoin joined the certified ranks of the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl with a game of its very own—the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl. The self-tilted cryptocurrency bowl will be replacing what once was the Beef O’Brady St. Petersburg Bowl. The four-year deal signed by Bitcoin payment processor BitPay and ESPN mirrors “BitPay’s foray into college football sponsorship coincides with a new drive toward bitcoin adoption by retailers and other merchants,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
