There are memorable moments in every young athlete’s life. More often than not, proud parents are in the stands to witness these moments. But, over the weekend minor leaguer Conrad Gregor’s Dad got more than a proud paternal moment—he also got an unlikely souvenir.

On Saturday night, parentdom and average baseball fandom collided when Houston Astros prospect Conrad Gregor stepped to the plate for the organization’s Class A Quad City River Bandits. With the River Bandits down 2-1 in the sixth inning, Gergor blasted a three-run home run to right-center, his first of the season. It was a sweet moment for Gregor for sure, but what could make it even better? Gregor’s Dad, perched in the outfield, caught the homerun ball.

“He may have to watch every game from out there,’’ Gregor told the Quad City Times after the homerun snag by his Dad. “It’s a little unbelievable, but I’m glad my parents were here to see it and when I got back to the dugout, I heard he made a pretty good catch.’’
