TMZ is reporting that Donald Sterling has “surrendered” control of the Los Angeles Clippers to his wife Shelly and that she is negotiating with the NBA in an effort to sell the team before the league attempts to force an involuntary sale.
Our sources say Shelly and her lawyer, Pierce O’Donnell, have been secretly meeting with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and NBA lawyers to “resolve the dispute amicably.”
A hearing on Sterling’s behavior is set for June 3 in New York, after which league owners will vote on whether to strip him of his ownership. The NBA has previously said that it will not let Shelly Sterling keep her stake in the Clippers if her husband’s ownership is terminated.
