Cliven Bundy: Martin Luther King Jr. Would’ve Wanted Me to Be Able to Call Black People “Nigroes”

CNN

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy appeared on CNN today to discuss his assertion that black Americans might have been better off under slavery, which he also defended yesterday at a press conference in which he used the word “Nigroe” multiple times. On CNN, the subject of Martin Luther King Jr. came up:

We don’t have freedom to say what we want. If I call — if I say ‘negro’ or ‘black boy’ or ‘slave,’ I’m — If those people cannot take those kind of words and not be offensive, then Martin Luther King hasn’t got his job done yet.

The Wire has more details. Also of note on the subject: a New York Times piece from yesterday about the developing phenomenon, in many areas of the South and West, of white people voting for Republicans at the same rate that black people vote for Democrats. Racial polarization: it’s real.
