Local Station Recreates March Madness Highlights with Newsroom Employees and a Cardboard Hoop

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. And when CBS puts an embargo on March Madness highlights, you stage a hilariously low-budget reenactment of a basketball game using your anchor and meteorologist. Or at least that’s what ABC affiliate WCJB in Gainesville—home of the University of Florida—did when it came to providing coverage of the Gator’s Elite Eight win over Dayton this weekend, as you can see in the clip above.

(Admittedly, we’re a few days late to this, but what we lack in timeliness the video more than makes up for in outright hilarity. Trust us.)

If middle-aged men in suits reenacting a college basketball game in slow-motion (cardboard hoop and all), won’t make you smile, then, well, I don’t know what will. And make sure you watch all the way to the end—“Patric Young” crying tears of joy is One Shining Moment-worthy stuff.
