The Sochi Games Already Have an Asterisk

Viewers stateside will have to wait until tonight to watch Sochi's opening ceremony, but consider the above photo something of a teaser for the big event. According to the BBC, which broadcast the extravaganza live, the rings began as snowflakes before turning into the Olympic rings. The fifth ring, however, never bloomed. The high-profile hiccup is a little embarrassing for the hosts, sure, but also pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
