On Monday, Pope Francis made a pre-Christmas visit to Emeritus Pope Benedict, the man he succeeded as the Holy See. In only the second public meeting since Francis’ ascendency, the two men exchanged Christmas greetings in Benedict’s home and prayed together in a chapel. The images, released by the Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, are the first public glimpse inside Benedict’s retirement home. The two Popes, past and present, were dressed in identical white robes.
